Chris

Chris was born and raised in Bethesda, MD right outside of Washington D.C. He graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 2003 and St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2007 with a B.A. in History. Following graduation, Chris assisted author Patrick K. O’Donnell write, edit, and research two books, “They Dared Return” and “Give Me Tomorrow”, with O’Donnell concerning WWII and the Korean War respectively. He also started working at the Huntington Learning Center as a Lead Tutor, specializing in ACT/SAT test prep and subject tutoring.

Chris began pursuing a Master’s Degree in European History from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2009. He subsequently began working as a librarian at the National Archives specializing in assisting clients with declassified CIA documents, genealogy, and war crimes research. He received his M.A. in European History in 2012 and his thesis, “German Radio Propaganda in the Soviet Union: A War of Words”, was published by the University of Maryland, College Park.

Upon receiving his M.A., Chris took a position as an AmeriCorps VISTA in the Allegheny highlands of West Virginia, serving as both a community organizer and a Child and Youth Advocate in Pocahontas County. He led operations for the Marlinton, West Virginia office of the Child and Youth Advocacy Center and advocated for child victims and their families, interviewing victims and presenting their cases to law enforcement and county authorities. Chris returned to the Washington D.C. area in 2014 after completing his AmeriCorps VISTA service and began his M.A. in Education at the University of Maryland, University College.

He started his own tutoring business where he worked with college students to organize their study plans at finals time, edited papers, and assisted students with conceptualization of ideas such as ideology and intentions for essay writing. Chris completed his student teaching at his alma mater Bethesda Chevy Chase High School.

Chris graduated with an M.A. in Secondary Education in 2016 and taught Political Science to high school students at New Hope Academy in inner city Baltimore during the 2016-2017 school year. He taught three sections of American Government and worked with students from the most socioeconomically depressed area of Baltimore City, MD.  Chris now teaches at Parkdale High School in Hyattsville, MD where he teaches Government and African American Studies (and loves it!).  He is also the head coach of the junior varsity softball team at Parkdale.

In his spare time, Chris plays music (guitar, harmonica), writes poetry and non-fiction, plays basketball, snowboards and can be frequently found outdoors fishing and hiking on the weekends.
