Bryan
Bryan is an active educator with nearly 20 years of experience and a special focus on K-12 environments in DC, NYC, and Boston. He holds a BA in History from Utah State University (2005), an MAT in Latin and Classical Humanities from UMASS Amherst (2007), and an MA as well as a PhD in Classical Philology from Fordham University (2019). He also maintains an active professional grade teaching license and is an experienced speaker of Latin (since 2006) and Italian (since 1998). He currently serves as the chair of a secondary school Classics Department which teaches Latin and Greek to over 650 students on any given day of the school year.
Bryan strongly believes that every student can learn Latin. Whether in the form of developing strategies for retaining vocabulary, finding succinct and versatile ways to grasp language concepts, or delving into the complexities of navigating a Latin text, Bryan is eager to help his students develop the skills and self-efficacy needed to succeed.
When not invested in his regular teaching duties, Bryan actively publishes on classical education and classical reception, most recently in the Classical Outlook and on Brill Press in an edited volume. He also enjoys singing, running, and Latin dancing.
